In early October 2007 it was announced that AT&T had agreed
to purchase from privately-held Aloha Partners, parent firm of
Hiwire, its nationwide allocation of 700 MHz spectrum for US$2.5
billion. Hiwire had previously planned to use this spectrum to
roll out a DVB-H network across the USA, building on its Las Vegas
trial. Whilst this seems to suggest that DVB-H has come to the
end of the road in the USA, there has been some speculation
that AT&T may now proceed with deploying its own DVB-H network.
